Hundreds of words for snow

the sun played tricks on my eye
through the slanted windshield
icy sunlight covered the ground
dusting the dandelions that sprouted
through the sidewalk.

A crane flies' wings bifurcate the
sunlight resting on the windowpane
stirring the silver webs they hang from.
almost caught,
it beats its thin golden arms against the glass
and breaks through.
A shadow passes over the sun
and the crimson flowers in the
teardrop vase lose their luster.

I remember the different shades of white
on the sunny grass.
reflecting from thoughts hung to dry in the wintery breeze.
They creak on the rusty pole,
turning and flapping in the wind.
The bronze wordless woods shone for a moment
before the illusion passes with the clouds
over the homeless mountains.
